Plane Crashes into Ferris Wheel in Australia
Posted on 17:24 by Unknown
As bizarre as the picture above appears, readers must trust their eyesight. Saturday, the ultra-light, pictured above and piloted by Australian Paul Cox, attempted a landing at an airstrip not far from the Old Bar Festival near the city of Taree in New South Wales, Australia. When Cox missed that landing, he turned the plane around and almost immediately hit the Ferris wheel, lodging it in the metal frame. Four people, a 9-year old boy, his 13-year-old sister, Cox, and his son-in-law were trapped until emergency workers remove them from the plane. No one suffered injuries during the ordeal.
The two young people waited for 90 minutes until the rescuers successfully lowered them by crane. Cox and his son-in-law remained in the plane for almost three hours before they were freed. Cox said he did not see the Ferris wheel before his Cheetah S200 flew directly into it. The Ferris wheel closed soon after the incident and was being dismantled.
The picture at the right provides a closer look at the pilot and his son-in-law, as they await rescue. Ham on Wry suggests that Cox invest in a pair of glasses with lens strength that will allow him to see large stationary objects when he flies his ultra-light in the future. People can then attend festivals and fairs with a greater sense of security.
