Bill Clinton and Lady Gaga at Decade of Difference Concert-Barbara Kinney/Clinton Foundation photo |
As usual, Lady Gaga upstaged everyone with her Marilyn Monroe impression, singing a parody of "Bad Romance", in which she changed the lyrics to "Bill Romance." Gaga informed Clinton of her idea in advance, and he told the audience, "How cool is it to be 65 and you get Lady Gaga? And then I wondered, she said she was going to have a 'Marilyn moment, and I thought, My God, I get Lady Gaga, and I will have a heart attack celebrating my 65th birthday!" Ham on Wry wonders if he experienced heart palpitations when Lady Gaga slithered out of her dress, revealing a nude body suit underneath.
The VIP section hosted guests such as Maria Shriver, Ellen DeGeneres, Barbra Streisand and James Brolin, Ashton Kutcher minus Demi, Steve Bing, Michael King, Lawrence Bender, Jeremy Piven, and Maria Bello. To attend the VIP reception, guests forked over $100,000. For those willing to donate at a higher level, $1,000,000 bought a round of golf with the former chief executive. I guess we know where many of the 1% were Saturday night, and it was definitely not at an Occupy Wall Street demonstration. No word yet on the total take from the weekend, but, it all goes to the Clinton Foundation to support such causes as fighting childhood obesity, treating HIV/AID, and treating malaria.
