Uggie accepts a Golden Globe along with his human counterparts for The Artist, a French-directed movie that won best musical/comedy, best musical/comedy actor and best musical score Sunday at the ceremony. Uggie won the unofficial dog Palm Prize at the Cannes Film Festival for the same movie.
Uggie, a nine-year-old Jack Russell terrier, lived in an animal shelter before his trainer Omar Von Mulle rescued him as a puppy. He also appeared in Water for Elephants and Mr. Fix It.
Rabid fans have begun a facebook campaign, Consider Uggie, in an effort to promote consideration for an Oscar in the upcoming Academy Awards.
