Sarah Palin's Vain Attempt to Excuse Her Paul Revere Account
Posted on 17:46 by Unknown
Sarah Palin's understanding of American history differs radically from mine--well, from most well-educated Americans actually. The following quote from the NY Daily News was her verbatim response to a reporter's question about what she had seen on her trip to Boston. "We saw where Paul Revere hung out as a teenager, which was something new to learn. And, you know, he who warned the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms by ringing those bells and making sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free." How eloquently stated!

To make matters much worse, Palin tried to defend the accuracy of her comments in the following quote I obtained from The Canadian Press online, "Part of his ride was to warn the British that were already there. That, hey, you're not going to succeed. You're not going to take American arms. You are not going to beat our own well-armed persons, individual, private militia that we have." She added. "He did warn the British."
If you believe that garbage, please don't vote in the next election, and don't use Wikipedia to check the facts. Since she made that ridiculous gaffe last Thursday, Wikipedia was inundated with new entries supporting her version. So many changes occurred Sunday and Monday that the site now has a padlock, making it extremely difficult to alter anything. Serioulsy folks, ample historical data exist to detail the actual account of Paul Revere's famous ride to warn John Hancock and Samuel Adams about their impending arrest by British soldiers. After warning the two in Lexington, Revere was eventually joined by William Dawes and later, Dr. Samuel Prescott on a ride to Concord where weapons and supplies had been stashed. Use the following link, which also explains the lantern system Revere used. http://www.paulreverehouse.org/ride/real.html.
Palin and her avid supporters have hit a new low with all of this. Take it on the chin, Sarah. Own up to your mistake. To those misguided people who believe that rewriting history will save their beloved Sarah--Give it up! How low can you go? Do we really want someone in office that doesn't know one of the most famous stories from the Revoltionary War? For anyone who still wants to defend her, go back and read her quotes. Find a more informed, articulate candidate to support and get on with your life.
